“That it will never come again is what makes
life so sweet.”
--Emily Dickinson
It’s easy when you are lying
on the beach with a full moon and a clear sky full of stars with the sound of
the waves rolling ashore to give yourself over to being grateful. Gratitude is
easy when life is good but not necessarily so when the going gets tough. A key
to overcoming the rough times is to not obsess on past failures, illnesses,
distractions or bad experiences but rather to focus on the present moment. When
you are focusing on today, the past and the future will fade away and you can
become alive in the moment. Enjoying each new day with each new experience and
knowing it is yours to keep forever is what makes life so sweet. That
mischievous deed, unique smile, look of awe, surprise, admiration or love that you
have seen on your loved ones faces are precious and special moments that will
never come again in the same way. It is
then; with much appreciation and gratitude you can add those sweet moments of
joy to your memory jar. Someone once said,
“Gloom is but a shadow and behind it and within your reach is joy; also in the
darkness is radiance and you only have to look to see it.”

When you run so fast to get
somewhere you miss half the fun of getting there.· When you worry and hurry through your day, it is like an unopened gift---thrown away. Life is not a race. Do take it slower and hear the music before the song is over.
